Today riyan broke jaliboy personal record, he hauled up "hat trick" tudung periuk,
When downtide at 0.3m, jaliboy rod was out of the rod stand, and he realised that his rod was laying on the rocky ground, luckily there is no any injury on the rod, when jaliboy picked up his rod, he realised that something heavy right at the end of the line, he reeled in and striked.. Fuuhhh the feeling was very Kanchong, ehem ehem thought that jaliboy was fooling around, but ehem ehem realised that jaliboy wasn't joking at all, ehem ehem guided jaliboy throughout the the tug of war with the fish, and finally, the fish was swimming near to the shore and ehem ehem saw the fish, and it was a beautiful Tebal pipi!!!! And we all are surprised for the catches from jaliboy.. Anyway its rezeki from God . Amin

Azzahar joined the rest of the cast right after he finished his luncheon meeting with his company.

On his arrival to Pulau Ubin Jetty, Azzahar met Jali and his fishing kakis who were about to return home from their fishing outing. After a short chit-chat, Azzahar departed in a van to transport him to the spot.

In minutes time, Azzahar arrived and met up with the rest of the cast. He quickly changed to his shorts and helped out Man Kerapu with the castnet to search for bait.

Man informed that Abg Rahim has scored back-to-back catches of fleshy Tembam Pipi (Long Head Grunt) & Kaci (Painted Sweetlips) weighing between 3-4kg earlier while Man Kerapu caught a good sized Chermin from the netcasting which he has claimed that Azzahar cast-net is an "ONG" castnet which has already hauled up international types of fishes & baits of good sizes and market price.

The whole night was a bit quiet other than quadruple back-to-back catches of Eels by Abang Rahim which he decided to burn the fourth eels to stop the Eel mantra of which it worked.

It was only in the morning, when Azzahar reel drag was screaming when an estimated 4kg Jahan (Catfish) catch of the morning was hauled up.

Nice record to start with for the Year 2010.

Late on Sunday night, Man Kerapu called me to borrow my tackles set as he is going fishing on Monday morning with the rest of the cast.

So, I told him to come over to my residence and I will lent him my Penn Powergraph Surf M rod and Daiwa SL30SH reel.

It was only on Monday evening right after I reach home from my driving lesson, he came over to my place to handover the tackles and in goodwill he gave me the fish to get my mum to cook and give it some to him later.

Man Kerapu added that he have brought up an estimated 2kg Ikan Tebal Pipi, 1kg Tudung Periuk & a small Duri (Marine Catfish). Saleh brought up the biggest Tudung Periuk of the day at 2kg range and one of the DSG brothers brought up a sizeable Duri.

Just before he knocked off, I told him to strike some pose so that I will put it into the blog for memories and Catch Report.

This outing, Man of the Match goes to Azzahar

My (Azzahar) plans of going out with family was cancelled due to work commitment and not able to complete early due to communication problem between vessel Captain and myself and thinking that I would be disturbed till late night, so it's better that I go fishing till vessel departed Singapore the next morning.

With Man Kerapu suddenly called to ask if I was going fishing, I agreed to it. Man Kerapu planned if I was interested to go to Pulau Ubin for fishing with everything inclusive transportation, food, bait, drinks and et cetera to be under him. I declined the lucrative offer as it would be another big major headache should I need to go to the shipyard to sort all problems in regards to the mobilisation of the vessel.

In the end, we ended up planned to have a happy-happy fishing outing at Changi CP6 while chit-chatting and planning for the next upcoming trip.

Went to Changi Village and found that there is abundance of wat-wat worms. Damn, it should be the best bait if this wat-wat are being used in Pulau Ubin.

Once we have gotten our supplies, had a dinner and off we go to Changi CP6.

Husin "Paul" Keling called Man Kerapu and later informed that we are fishing at CP6 and soon he told us that he would be joining later at night.

First cast by Man Kerapu landed in Abang Blues (Fork Tail Catfish aka Belukang) of around 2kg which was later released unharmed. A short time netcast landed in two Belanak (Grey Mullet) and two Jolong-jolong (Halfbeak)

During upcoming tide at about 0300hrs, I scored a back to back sandray estimated about 1kg each before going to sleep as to await early morning call by my client to liaise for the vessel mobilisation.

Since landing in the rays, it was a quiet night as informed by Man Kerapu and Husin "Paul" Keling.

Another last minutes recall by Man Kerapu when full day schedules of going out for Hari Raya outing with my fiance became a short 3 hours outing when he told me that he will be waiting at my home by three in the afternoon.

Once sending my fiancee back home, I returned home quickly to prepare for mobilisation. This time to Pulau Ubin as I told Man Kerapu that it's been sometime that I last caught a Duri (Marine Catfish), so my mission is to catch at least one duri.

Pulau Ubin spot Aik Hwa was chosen and soon I prepared my tackles. Tackles brought today Penn INXS 2 Long Range + Daiwa Sealine X SHA 30, Penn Powergraph + Daiwa SL30SH, Silstar Ultra Light 12ft + Cheap Surecatch reel, tripod stand donated by Sazali (Thank you as I regretted selling my Ian Gold Match tripod stand last time) and a 10ft cast net to search for fresh bait.

I brought along my tripod stand as I knew that Aik Hwa is a rough rocky ground terrain and it will be difficult to pitch in the normal rod stand.

Suddenly, heavy downpour started before we left my home, but, as we have confirmed and planned to go fishing at the very last minutes, we doesn't want it to be missed.

Went to Changi Village to get bait supplies,food and drinks and et cetera. Called up our usual Pulau Ubin driver that we need him to transport us to Aik Hwa and will be reaching Pulau Ubin in twenty minutes time.

We reach Aik Hwa under heavy downpour and we quickly seek shelter under a tree and set up all necessary preparation.

Soon we started our fishing and netcasting.

Caught plenty of Kapas-kapas but only good eating sizes are kept while smaller ones were released.

The Blue Spotted rays are back and we caught five of them, one good size fish were lost when the leader from the Penn Powergraph rod combo used by Man Kerapu gave way upon nearing to shore suspected to be between 3kg to 5kg range ray.

Tebal Bibir (Brown Sweetlips) estimated to be nearly 2kg was also brought up but credits will go to my ultra light rod as it caught the most good sizeable fish of the outing such as blue spotted ray, kapas-kapas and et cetera.

A last minute silent recall fishing outing on early Sunday morning at a spot in which he would like to try out.

Azzahar was happily sleeping when Man Kerapu called in to come to his house to get the fresh squid and fresh fish baits like tambans, pasir-pasir & kapas-kapas.

Upon hearing that Man Kerapu is going to try out at a spot which he and Azzahar has been planning for a while, Azzahar requested for fifteen minutes for him to bath and get ready.

Brought along the fresh baits, we proceeded to Changi Village to get all necessary stocks like foods, drinks, worms and et cetera.

Once we have got all the necessary items, we proceeded directly to spot.Sangkut (Snag) Haven, we should describe this time as Azzahar lost seven rigs, sinkers, leaders and nearly quarter part of his newly spool main line consecutively within a space of four hours.

A Heartiest Congratulations to Bro Yan

Came back from my night shift, meet my GF n headed down to CV to buy sandworms to find sandeel for my big game ltr on coz it has been a long time since i hunt for biggies, bt im so unlucky no sandworms bt only left pumpon sarong. No choice bt to juz take it. After getting all the stuff headed down to the spot. Haven tried this spot b4 bt ive tried the spots near it n the rusult is nt so bad. this spot is so tempting that i've been monitoring it for quite a while. OTW thr met up wif 1 uncle that i'v noe for quite sometime when i fish there. He is a regular thr n cthce up wif the cr arnd there n it sounds great.

So reach the spot at arnd 11am so told the uncle i'll be fishing further down abit to try this spot. Once reach, set up my small game rod n cast it. I've to checked regularly coz there r alot of small fishes n crabs eating my bait. Started to find bait n cant hook even 1. Its my unlucky day coz its hard to get baitfish for that day wif pumpon even wif small hooks.

As i was hunting for baitfish suddenly my rod had a hard pull. Wif the knowledge that Cik Kamsani had share wif me last time, managed to cnfrm that it is on n strike it. It was a though fight at 1st bt after 5-10 mins of fight managed to terminate it n its already near to shore. At 1st i thought it was a Big Duri bt as it come closer the fish is a Taiwango(i dnt noe how to spell the name bt it sounds like this). The similar fish like those at the pond bt this 1 is wild so its gold in colour. Tell my GF to hold my rod n i went down to gt. Its so heavy a fat. It weight arnd 2+ to 3 kg min.

Then the uncle came by wif some passerby to tke alook at it n he gave me a rope to tie the fish n put it in the water to keep it alive as i forgot to bring my rope. For all this while my GF requested that she want a live view of a Sicklefish been cought n abt 20mins after landing this fish, i landed a Sickfish.

Only 3hr at the spot n its already enough for a trip. So decided to pck n take some photos for memories.

It's been months that the whole lots of us has been hibernated away from fishing.

Since one of my company vessel is reaching Cambodia tonight and I am awaiting for a confirmation SMS from the vessel Satellite phone. So in order to stay awake for the whole night, I called up Saleh and Sazali if they want to go fishing together while I was on the way to the mosque for my Friday prayers.

Few fishing locations were brought up by me but we decides to go to Changi CP 6 as there is a shelter for us just in case of rain during this unpredictable wet weather month.

After my working time has ended, I rushed back home from the office to prepare all necessary stuff for fishing.

Sazali managed to secure five tubs of wat-wat worm earlier via phone order and I secured two packets of fresh squids.

I met Saleh at Changi Village at about 8pm and once we have got all of our baits and food supplies, we head for Changi CP6 second last hut. Sazali joined in while I was setting up my rod.

The skies looked as if it will be raining heavily soon but thank goodness that it didn't rain.

The water condition looked promising. As it was raining quite heavily earlier in the afternoon, we were hoping to land good sizes of Marine Catfish aka Duri.

We waited for the first bite but it seems that the crabs are feeding on our baits throughout the night.

Saleh began to switch to a smaller hook and was rewarded with a small mempinang at about three in morning followed by a small ray an hour later.

It was about five in the morning when Saleh started to rest for the night followed by Sazali later on.

I persevered but Game Over by quarter to six in the morning with the rest of the guys.

It was about half past six in the morning that Saleh and myself woke up to clear the area and packed up our things bit by bit.

While packing up, we realised that there was a long net being placed stretching from the start of CP6 to a nearby CP7. We wouldn't have realised about it until we saw a netter in his speed boat checking out his nets.No wonder, there weren't any fish bite detected from our rod tip throughout the night.

As Sazali was still sleeping and there is nothing much to post to the fishing blog, we decided to snapped some pictures of Sazali sleeping and the morning sunrise.

As such, enjoy the photos while we will be planning to try out East Coast soon.

It's been always Man Kerapu form for landing in fish but there's a change in luck tonight for me.

We thought of going to fish at various place but the tide seems not to be in favour with us. Most shops in Changi have low supply of baits so we decided to buy ten packets of sarong worms. After much discussion with Man, we decide to fish in Pulau Ubin and try to aim for scale fish since tide wasn't good.

Once we reach in Pulau Ubin, we moved to our first spot, heavy rain started to downpour along the way and causes both of us to be fully drench without shelter. It took around five hours later for the rain to stop.

But the worst has yet to come, as we both we attacked by thousands of sandflies and the roaring of wild boar and lots of shining eyes looking at us.

By 10.30pm, Man Kerapu could not take it and prompted us to fish at other spot since he felt very uncomfortable by the eyes looking at us. We have to take small stones and utter some verses from the Quran and started to throw into the bushes.

Since we only have two headlight for us to find our way back to the jetty area, we know that there's a high risk of wild dogs and wild boars around us so we prepare a gaff and our surf rod butt section as weapon. Thank God that nothing happened to us.

We reach a new spot where it's consider public spot in Pulau Ubin. I started out the ball rolling by casting out the bait, it was less than 2 minutes later that I reeled in good size Duri Belalang.

The next subsequent cast, it was a one cast one hit where I landed in big Tebal Pipi to rare Kerisi Bali from shore and a rare look-a-like Goatfish. Even flower crabs too were hook up.

Total catch for the night excluding baits, Man Kerapu 0 - Azzahar 16.

Tonight mission belongs to Man Kerapu.

The story goes like this, the planning to go for a big game mission between Man and myself started a week ahead before the said outing. Many possible locations were planned out but Obek called at the very last minutes that he would like to go to big game spot in Pulau Ubin rather than Changi beaches changes everything.

Met Man at the foot of my block, and we hailed a Cab and fetch Obek at his place and off we go to Changi Village to buy necessary stuff.

It started to rain but it didn't damper our mood as we are going all out tonight looking for biggies.

Once we reach to the spot, it started to rain cats and dogs, hence we quickly set up a shelter for the three of us to survive throughout the night.

Tide was receeding down when we started to cast our first bait. Once low tide, Man Kerapu casted his worm bait with his surfcast rod and landed in 1.5kg Tudung Periuk. Later, Man & Obek went netcasting in search of baitfish.

Obek's netcast landed in 14 pieces of Kitang of good sizes followed by Man netcast landed in 15 pieces of Kitang of the same size and a plate size Queenfish.

By then, one hour after reaching the spot, 29 Kitang, 1 Tudung Periuk, 1 Queenfish & 1 Mempinang.

We were busy chatting till we were shocked by the screaming reel which belong to Man. The 8.5kg female leopard ray was subdued in 10 minutes of battle by Man but the 7kg male leopard ray took Man Kerapu nearly half an hour to subdued it. All hail "Man Pari Lalat" for hitting 2 in a row in a space of few hours apart. Hehehe.

By then just before midnight, after cutting up and clean the rays, our cooler box was filled to the brim so we decided to call it a day and sleep for the rest of the night while awaiting for first light to return home.

It's been few weeks since we last went fishing. With the loss of my grandmother from dad side in the afternoon followed by grandmother from mum side being warded in Changi General Hospital in the evening, things were getting hard for my family.

Two weeks later, I started out working at a new company so, that causes me to rest from fishing for another week! So it was on 22 May 2008, that I really called up Man Kerapu that I would want to go fishing.

Time and spot were decided. Tonight outing are meant for short time which means few hours outing and try out at new spot. Simple bait were used for this test outing which is the universal bait; fresh peeled prawn.

Tonight outing belongs to Man as he caught one of the biggest Gemang he ever caught.

Due to the last Malaysian Election, Tournament Casting which was confirmed last March / April in Pahang have been postponed till further notice.

But for those casters out there, don't be despair as DSG will be hosting a Mini Casting Tournament on a field soon.

Tomorrow night, Saturday (14 June 2008), located at the beach near Big Splash (DSG wet casting ground) will be hosting Mini Fishing Tournament Jackpot. Pool among DSG members and they have invites some outsiders to join in.

The joining fee will be $10. The biggest catch (1st), (2nd) & (3rd) will receives the total fees divided into 3. 1st placing will receives slightly more than 2nd placing while 3rd will receives the balance after the 2nd placed.

Mini Fishing Tournament will starts from 8pm - 8am. Please join in the fun if you are free tomorrow night.

Bait were sarong worms, hook size was size 4 on two-hooked UK Apollo rig (Paternoster rig) - Made in Tampines Ave 4. A surprised CR this time!!! Let's start out the from the main story.

Man Kerapu had just returned from Brunei from his two weeks reservist recall. Two weeks in the jungle without fishing was his main sickness since then.

Man called the night before to planned out to fish in Pulau Ubin but due to a last minutes from both sides, we decide to fish at Changi Puaka Beach as we have not visited it for quite some time. Met Man at the foot of my block at around 5pm and off we go to Changi Village to get our supplies and our early dinner.

Once reached spot, setup and cast our baits. The catches were good when we were starting out but we stopped fishing for the night after 1am. It was only at around 0640hrs that I waked up and continued fishing.

At around 0915hrs, when the heat from the morning sun was at an unbearable heat and humidity causes us to take cover at a nearby hut. While chatting up with Man, he saw that my reel drag alarm had gone off and the rod was bending at an angle.

Since my knee operation area still have the painful effect since had my operation in January, Man ran to grab my rod first as the line was peeling out fast. We were thinking what kind of fish had took my bait and judging the way the fish fight was just as same as a stingray as it keep playing on the sea bed, but later, when the fish moved up and played at the mid level, we change our thoughts that it could be a good size scaled fish as the bait was sarong worms on two-hooked apollo rig.

To our surprised, the fish that took my bait was a Queenfish, I was shocked to see that Queenfish took sarong worms? I thought, they normally goes after prawns and bait-fish? It was a shocking first ever experience for both of us that Queenfish do take worms when they are hungry.

Once landed the Queenfish, it weighs 3kg on my fishing weighing scale.

A week before, Uncle Kamsani smsed the rest of the guys to go on a outing to Pulau Ubin on a one day (morning - afternoon) trip to aim for fish points for our tournament.

It was one day before the outing that I called Uncle Kamsani to confirm my attendance for the trip.

It was at 4.25am that Uncle Sulaiman called to wake me up and get ready to meet the rest at Nadeerah Restaurant in Changi Village by 5.30am.

I called my gf to wake her up as she was interested to follow me to Pulau Ubin as this would be her first ever outing to Pulau Ubin. At 4.45am, it was raining cats and dogs which prompted me to call Uncle Kamsani that I might be reaching a bit late depending on the heavy rain situation.

Thank God, the rain stopped at 5.15am and off I fetched my girlfriend at her residence and proceed to Changi Village. Along the way, I met Uncle Samsi who was riding his bike and was also going on a trip with us to dig for wat-wat and sarong worms for his fishing trips tonight.

Once reached Changi Village, sat with the rest of the guys including with Abang Jaws and wife from Team Jaws 9 having their breakfast together. Bought drinks and meals for the whole day outing and off we proceed to take the bumboat to Pulau Ubin.

Reached spot at around 6.45am but we didn't start fishing as water was at it's lowest so we just set-up and put all of our stuff nicely as we could see the black clouds around us but thank God it wasn't raining that whole day.

While setting up our rod, we chatted and later Uncle Kamsani and Uncle Sulaiman went off to search for wat-wat worms. We only started fishing at around 9 plus in the morning when water was rising up.

Open ceremony catch was from Uncle Kamsani who reeled in a Duri Belalang and it was followed by me. It was consider a slow catch with assortable size Duri and duri belalang being caught till Uncle Sulaiman reeled in a grouper at his spot using whole sotong kelong. Later, most of us shot to the area where he casted and we were rewarded with grouper too.

Just before stopping fishing, Uncle Sulaiman caught a 2kg Belukang and released it unharmed as none of us consumes the belukang while Uncle Kamsani reeled in the last duri belalang.

Total catch was 15 but the other fish was not in the photoshoot session.

Man called me for a last minute compulsory fishing reservist recall just before I was going out for some unimportant matter at 7.40pm.

Prepared my stuff and met him at the carpark where I parked my bike. Ride over to Changi Village to buy some sinkers and lightsticks and off we go to spot.

When we reached there, we were suprised that there were quite a handful of anglers fishing. There were around three sets of anglers which includes a family fishing with their wife and daughter nearby the toilet with around 5 rods. 2nd set of two anglers on the way to packed up their stuff and went home and the other set of angler with two rods, were fishing beside us.

Tide was rising when we set up our rods. Man casted his bait first; a big fresh frozen size pasir-pasir which we bought it alive at Gary shop last Saturday in Changi Village for the last Saturday short timed fishing outing with Man.

So since there were no bait fish around for me to use as bait, I took one of Man ready hooked fresh squid bait meant for his big game and use casted it away.

Once everything is settled, I caddied Man for some netcasting session in order to get baits, tonight was a good tide and we managed to land in good sizes of tua bak; tamban malam for bait. I was suprised to see that the sizes of the tua bak has grown bigger rather than the past outing netcast catch few months back.

After a few netcast, Man landed in a good size Kapas-kapas which he casted from the knee deep water depth.

Soon Man saw my rod was pulled and and asked me to check my big game setting rod. Once reeled in, I caught an acceptable size Duri. Man later told me that this Duri are so greedy that it swallowed a big chunk of squid bait with big hook as compared with its mouth size.

As Man needs to go to work the next morning, we stopped fishing at around 1am completing our 4 hours block of fishing outing.

Tonight were relatively fun fishing and a last minute decision to fish. Met Man Kerapu at the foot of my residence and of we went to spot.

After buying baits and drinks, we reach the spot at near to 2300hrs. First cast, I brought up an Usat which I released it unharmed. Later that night, my bad cough returned and was coughing badly so I decide to rest a bit after taking some strepsil lozenges.

This time was Man Kerapu who caught the most fish. He caught at least 8 of gelama. As for me, I caught an Usat on small game and Eel damaging my big game rig.

Man Kerapu called the night before stating that he was a bit sad to stay home seeing his family members grieving with sadness after Man's grandmother passed away on Sunday.

Intention to fish short time at Eastcoast but thinking of leng being put up during the day put us to reconsider. So the ideas of fishing either at Changi Carpark 4 or 7 was finally decided.

Once parked my motorcycle at the motorcycle parking lot at Changi Village, off we went over to Gary's to buy baits and necessary stuff such as drinks and food. Saw Raimi sitting at a chair near Gary shop while awaiting for Asyiq to arrive. Ask them where they are heading to, they informed us that they are heading to Pulau Ubin for cycling.

Pulau Ubin suddenly hit an idea for me to reccee a new spot with Man Kerapu. With low resources we have right now, Man Kerapu was shocked upon hearing and was swearing that even his national service army reservist unit recalls are not like what I made a sudden change of idea.

Hehe, but in the end, both of us went to Pulau Ubin and started reccee for new spots. We thought of getting a transport to ferry us to a nearby spots and they asked for $20.00 to and fro from the jetty.

We relented due to the expensive price and we decided to walk. Off we walk to spot and entered a kampung through a path and we just walked and walked till we found a beach. The beach was clean and there were few bottles around, no leftover baits, no used hooks nor fishing lines so we just made an impression that this spot might be known only to a few anglers.

Spot was full of potentials even we were fishing at low tide 0.7m. My big game was hooked by tekuk when Man saw my small game rod was pulled strongly once till 90 degrees by a fish either by a big size grouper or siakap and half of the leader was cut by rocks structures under sea. Once he ran to my rod, it was too late by then.

With its tide, I managed to land and then release all catches due to its small size. Once we finished fishing, Man says that this spot really have its potential should the tide is perfect.

The teams meet up at Changi CP7 while the rest of the members from Singapore Surf Anglerz were at Changi CP4. Baits were plenty from Tamban, Pasir-pasir, fresh squids and cuttlefish, wat-wat, sarong worms to halfbeaks.

As I apologised as I could not remember much of the full story, let's just view the pictures. Flathead which weighs 1kg taken on whole pasir-pasir bait, Marine Catfish aka Duri which weighs 2.4kg taken on fresh cut squid and Spotted Sickle Fish weighing 2.9kg taken on wat-wat cocktailed with sarong worms.

Ok let me start off on a trip wit the SSA bros last friday which was Good Friday. Well basically fishing trip with the Singapore Surf Anglers, SSA, on the 21st Mar almost got into a successful one when Bro Yan (kecik) got hooked on a stingray which he fought at approximately 30-40mins. And the story goes....

Met Jali and the gang at 5pm at Changi Village. Heard wat wat (wormy kind of bait) was in store so we got at least 8 packs for the night for us. I brought two weapons fo the night. Lotsa smallies were haul by my dad's rod, Shimano holiday spin, like usat(belongs to a catfish family) and mempinang. We had some bbqed stuffs fo the night tht were brought by my newly made friends thr. A few hours later, while everyone were changing baits, and i was reeling in my line, i heard someones drag being pulled, pulled non stop! Bro Yan saw and reach out for the rod quickly before anything happens. It wasn't his rod actually but its one of his friends. The owner of the rod were busy with some stuffs. He then gave the fish a hard jerk, it still swam away, further. It then begin to caught everyone's attention. The rod almost give way but Bro Yan played with its drag professionally.

After a long long fight, the fish was finally on sight. Were we relieved to see what fish and how big it was. I was happy at first. It roughly weighs around 15-20kgs. No one had gaff to bring this monster up, so i was appointed to jump over the railing to drag the fish to the 'much better area' for bringing this sandray up. Lotsa hiccups were seen like the line went into the rocks, so i hadda meddle with things down thr with Jaliboy's a.k.a Sean Kingston rod, as how to bring up as the tail could give you a nice whip to send you to the hospital and so on. The ray were still on when we're at the above mentioned area, so i tried whole means lik trying to hold and grab its tail, poking in thru its eyes, nothing could possible been done. So poking through its eyes, halfway, is the best choice at tht point of time. I still could remember how shaky i was when trying to lift tht monster up.

The moment of truth, the ray got off. Not by snap of line, but i think its the hook part, didn't went in properly. This all happened after the rod tht i was holding on to tht poked into its eyes slipped. Then it swam away. Its life is still longer. Up till now, I can't forget that very incident.

It was a boring day when Azzahar called Yan whether he's interested to go relax fishing.

A timing to meet and fetched Yan up from his house was secured and off we went to CV to buy all necessary stuff such as baits, drinks, crackers and etc. Once we got all the stuffs, we decide to go to CP7 as the sky already looked dark and the clouds are threatening to drops it heavy rain.

Once reached, we set up our stuff and started to cast out the baits. It was less than an hour later just before heavy rain suddenly drops with gushes of strong wind started out. Yan managed to land in a sizeable tuskfish.

Looking that the rain would not stop in time, we decide to pack up and return home.

This is a special outing on behalf of the Singapore Surf Anglerz members and its logo mascot.

It was Friday, 29 March 2008, that I got my money back from Man Kerapu and on that very evening, called one of the fishing kaki from Fishing Kaki forums who have been keeping the combo set for nearly one month as mutual promised between both of us, I bought his Penn INXS 2 Long Range 13ft 6 inches rod combo with Daiwa Sealine-X 30 SHA reel.

That night, Man Kerapu called me if I have bought the rod and asked if I'm going fishing on Saturday.

Met Man Kerapu at around 3pm and off we went to spot. Bait was really hard to get as Man Kerapu spent nearly six hours in the water searching for bait. Netcasting results was three miserable tamban malam (Night herring) and one small baby pasir² (smelt) for baits.

It was about 2330hrs when I asked Man Kerapu if he need the last bait as we were already out of baits, he gave the green light for me to use it. With one last hopes of getting baits or CR for this outing. Prayed hard and threaded the tamban malam nicely with thin 15lbs line, did one full swing and waited for actions.

While chatting with Man Kerapu and Shedinja, who came down for a while to chit chat, we didn't notice that my rod has a hook up as no any drag alarm was peeled out. We were about to check for baits when Shedinja told me my line was extremely slack.

Hmmm, I was wondering that with the tide rising up, I don't think that the line will be drifted by any floating rubbish. Took out the rod from the rod stand and fit the rod butt onto my gimbal, reeled some slack line and gave one firm strike. Felt something heavy at the end of the line with good vibrations and fight.

Once reeled in to shore, Wohhoooo, a different catch by me in my entire life on top of special catch for the Singapore Surf Anglerz team logo mascot which was the Barracuda.

My 30lbs Dupont hook line was nearly cut off by its razor sharp teeth as the hook was embedded deep in its mouth. Once pictures taking ended, weigh in the fish and found out that it weight 1kg flat as shown on my weighing scale device.

Since we are out baits, we thought of using the testing the barracuda as bait and aim for another biggies. Man Kerapu later sliced it nicely and hooked the sliced thick firm meat onto the hook and off we start again with plenty of fresh cut baits.

The end results of this outing, no biggies were landed on this outing using the fresh barracuda meat but at least we returned home happy as my new bought big game setup did managed to hooked up a nice size fish.

Hi all, you must been thinking far when u read the team has become S.S.A.T.M.C right?

Actually Singapore Surf Anglerz has combined with The Memphisbelle Crews in regards to defend our Singapore Champions title in the WCSSA 2008 as most of the Singapore Surf Anglerz members are due to enlist into the National Service pretty soon.

Most of the 2007 batch will be enlisted starting with Yan on 11 March 2008 followed by Sazali in April and the list goes on.

As myself the team captain for the S.S.A.T.M.C for the WCSSA 2008, have briefed the whole team members who represents the team about the rules and regulations of the tournament which we have to abide and adhere.

And now, we have started to fish. Those fishes caught up by the maximum of 2 hook as required in the tournament rules will be kept in a separate ice boxes whilst those on cast nets will be kept in different boxes so that it won't get mixed up.

We started out on Friday but it was raining and was not a good time to fish. Catches was very bad so we decided to return on Saturday evening and fish till Sunday.

Baits was abundant such as wat-wat, sarong, while live prawn, live swa chiam and tambans were netcasted by Uncle Samsi.

The spot was not bad when we were lucky to hook up Bawal Emas when it took our live prawns which took the bait near to the rocky areas. Fight was not bad for the fish of its size. I was busy recording in the weight of the catches when Uncle Samsi came to us with another 600g and 700g Bawal Emas in his cast net while looking out for baits. I was like, fwahhh, cast net also can get bawal emas but too bad cannot record as it won't be counted.

Hehe, just like as usual, Fork-tailed Catfish or should I say, Blukang, two of its were caught and release unharmed as we don't consumed it.

But the main account for the team catches was Uncle Kamsani when he landed a 14kg sandray just before we stopped fishing. Seems it was like a good starting out in the tournament together as a team.

We have started to defend our title at the World Championship Surf & Shore Fishing with new team members as the past year batch mostly will be enlisted to the National Service soon.

I was at home thinking of watching the English Premier League FA Cup between Manchester United versus Arsenal (Yeah! Manchester United walloped Arsenal 4 - 0) when Shedinja called me around 9pm to join him fishing at first reccee spot with the rest of the members.

Went to Changi Village to get some supplies such as drinks, light sticks and sinkers and off to spot. Once reach, setup my rod and casted out my baits. Bait was lasting and from 11pm till around 3am, with me only who managed to brought up a 1.2kg Gemang (Gray-eel Catfish) and another good size missed while reeling up due to its rocky areas. Cik Sulaiman missed two size when both of the fish swam into the rocks opening.

It was early in the morning when most of us were knocked off, Yan & Wan returned home. Once woken up, continued to fish until at around 10 am before we decides to change spot to target Gemang.

Reach spot B at around 11am and fish till 2pm, a total five more gemang was brought up and one Belukang (Forked-tail Catfish) was released back to the sea.

Been quite some time since most of the members meet up and fish together. The rest of the guys were sending text messages to each other about fishing at CP6 to target Duri. Since Azzahar has recovered at 80% after his knee operation, he was back in action with the rest of the guys.

Rest of the guys came early except for Azzahar who came at around 8pm as he had some other plans in the afternoon. Upon reaching, Saleh was preparing himself to return home.

After Saleh returned home with his two duri belalang (Smaller sizes of Marine Catfish), fishing frenzy started and it was all Duri night which now hold the highest total haul record of Duri in a single night for Singapore Surf Anglerz. The total catch for the outing was 37 Duri (inclusive of Saleh's two Duri), 1 Mempinang, 2 Duri & 1 Mengkerong released back to the sea unharmed. During the frenzy, it was about one cast one hit rate.

Smaller sizes duri and other fishes were released as to ensure it grows bigger as part of the promised made by Singapore Surf Anglerz, Azzahar landed in the heaviest Duri for the night at 2.2kg and the only good palm sized scaled fish; Mempinang (Russell snapper) while he released a Mengkerong. Raimi, blazing out with his new multiplier reel and rod, he was on form just like the rest of the teams landing in good size duri and releasing smaller duri. Yan too did not forget his promised to release smaller size fish as to ensure it grows. Not to forget Sazali also contribute lots of his energy assisting the team members.

We would like to thank our new friend, Wan, for coming over to us and offered us some food to keep the team filled with energy to last the whole cold windy night.

Our beloved team captain; Shedinja has left Singapore Surf Anglerz team on personal grounds in order to build up his life due to his personal problems which we respected about his decision.

Results for the 2007 World Championship Surf & Shore Angler are out and we are pleased to inform that Singapore Surf Anglerz have done relatively well in our first invitation and try in a world surf fishing tournament stage.

Despite being new learner like us, we just did our very best and followed the rules.

Here are the results.

Singapore Surf Anglerz won the 2007 Singapore Champion Surf & Shore Team Division and coming in 2nd place at the overall division which comprises teams from all over the world.

As in individual contenders division, Azzahar won the 2007 Singapore Champion Surf & Shore Angler award and came in 5th in the overall individual contender division. Azzahar was challenged by two other Singaporean anglers who have joined in the tournament who was ranked overall 10th and 16th respectively.

Congratulation Singapore Surf Anglerz! You have done the team proud despite we are relatively new in fishing.

Sorry for the late updates as most were busy and Azzahar was preparing for his sucessfull operation to his right knee area.

On this outing, catches weren't good due water conditions but at least we have something to share. But the special catch belong to our "Old Timer" Yan with his on form catch of some red snapper species which we tagged it as Red Indian due to its black line around its head.

While Azzahar was fishing at Bedok Jetty, two of our members, Saleh & Yan were fishing at Changi CP6 to target Duri.

As usual, Duri has returned to our spot and this time Saleh & Yan was fishing for a short time of two hours.

The two hours spent of fishing yields them a total catch of five duri of good sizes.

Azzahar younger sibling, Asri, would like to learn fishing so decided to bring him to Bedok Jetty to teach him some fishing while I was still waiting to land in my first Garfish.

Setup rods and off we start fishing. Garfish was around but medium in size while Fidzah aims tambans with her tamban rod setup but it was hard to get due to ongoing low tide.

Since using a whole fish as bait can't get me a garfish on my noodle rod, soon i change tactics and revert to use smaller hook & floater with cut tamban meat as bait. Soon it was Garfish frenzy for me.

December are one of the wettest months in Singapore but that doesn't stop Singapore Surf Anglerz team members from fishing.

The team met at usual spots at around four in the afternoon for an overnight outing. Rods, reels were setup and each of the individuals started pre-test fine tuning cum training cast using from Unitech to OTG to Pendulum technique before putting up the rigs.

Canvas sheets was put up to shield us from the cold night and I started to cast the first bait at 7pm sharp which were then followed by the others. I brought up the first fish which were followed by Yan, Saleh, Shedinja & Wak Ace.

Just like what we have expected, the temperature at night was so cold that some of the members were shivering.

Firstly, Singapore Surf Anglerz would like to congratulate on the appointment of our new team captain, Shedinja and vice-captain, Saleh on 7 December 2007.

Saleh & Yan called me up to go castnetting with them at around Changi Beaches in search to get bait supplies for the next day overnight fishing at Bedok Jetty (BJT) just in case BJT tambans are not around or hard to get.

They reached at 6pm while I arrived at 8pm as I have just reached Singapore from Johor Bahru, shopping with my girlfriend family.

While Saleh decides to stop his castnetting, I still continued with my castnet while Yan caddied me till Changi Beach CP7.

Tua Bak, Flower Crab, Big Half Beaks, Pasir-pasir and table-sized ray were caught that night. Smaller rays which from my point of view which are consider small were released back.

Along the way, we managed to spend some of our time catching up with some of the anglers there to know what fish have they brought up. To our suprise, one of Singapore Surf Anglerz favourite all-time targets and food fish, the Marine Catfish which are commonly known as Duri have returned to our spots.

Yan was swearing himself for not bringing his rod down as Duri has came back. We witness that some of the duri which some of the anglers caught there was in the one to three kilogram range while one of the duri was about four kilogram plus.

Then, after castnetting, meet up with Saleh who was away talking with one of the anglers. Saleh too was frustrated that he suggest that, since Duri has returned, why not we hunt it tomorrow night instead of BJT.

Anyway, do stay tune if we managed to get the Duri at usual spot.

It was Shedinja 24th birthday and the birthday boy together with his wife holds a fishing outing cum a sumptious bbq party.

It was also the day that Singapore Surf Anglerz worn their first team shirts together as a team. Too bad, that one of our team members, Wak, Hasan, Haziq & Fairoz, was down and could not attend for the outing.

There were plenty of foods despite many came to enjoy the bbq. Shedinja & his wife families were there when they reach at night.

Josh & his buddy came back from luring at a nearby spot sighing that he lost a battle with a kilo plus ACK while his buddy dropped a KBL upon bringing up the fish. It's ok. Anyway, it's dinner time before Josh bid goodbye to the rest of the members.

Sea conditions was good throughout but fish aren't biting much except that netcasting results. Baitfish such as Tua Bak was plenty, Sotong Katak (Cuttlefish) of good bait sized was around. Table-sized Belanak was caught by Shedinja.

It was around 2am when most dozed off due to low tide. At around 7.30am, most of the SSA guys have bid goodbye and left with Azzahar & partner together with Shedinja & wife and TMC.

In the morning, Shedinja & me decided to netcast for some pasir-pasir (smelt) but it was hard to get it other than using sandworms as bait caught by Fidzah & Hazlina (Shedinja wife). So final results: Ladies (Rod & Reels) 5 - 0 Guys (Netcast)

However, I was presented with a medium-large size of cuttlefish caught at around 8.30am so at least there are still some nice size food to eat later.

It was around 11.30am when I decided to leave Shedinja & wife together with The Memphisbelle Crews as I need to send Fidzah back home.

Tambans, Belanak, Sole, Crabs, Halfbeaks were deep fried while Cuttlefish was cooked as "Sotong Masak Hitam (Black Ink Cuttlefish Gravy)".

It was after school when I was feeling too stress after studying. Yan called and would like to fish at CP7 as he too was bored at home. Since i bought my noodle rod two months ago, I have yet to try out the noodle rod.

Took Yan to CV where he sponsored me a box of sandworms and off we goes to the spot. Spot was full of action where we could see lots of top surface action with occasional barracuda hitting some baitfish at about hundred metres from shore.

Set up rod with floater with sandworms on two-hooked wishbone floater rig, I casted out and halfbeak start to attack my back. Total catch for a three hours of short fishing session was five halfbeaks landed on my rod.

Today CR seems to be outstanding year in the Singapore Surf Anglerz team history as Yan brought up the biggest size stingray weighing at 8kg.

Ladyluck was on Yan who was presented a belated birthday present at around 4.30pm where the tide is receding. The fight lasted around 10mins to tame the female stingray.

Congratulation Yan on your Catch Report and holding the heaviest record size in the Singapore Surf Anglerz records.

It was already been one month since the team met for all out fishing due to the fasting month restriction as most won't be able to last fasting while fishing in the hot midday sun and some members who attend the Ramadhan prayers during the fasting month at the mosque.

The team met at usual spot armed with sarong worms, prawns, bait fish and etc. The night was a bit humid as most of the members were sweating.

It was only after the break fast dinner at my girlfriend's place when i was thinking of going netcasting for a short exercise since i have not exercise for quite some time.

Returned home, changed, took my netcast, took my girlfriend and off we go to the spot for a short exercise. Reach spot at 9pm sharp and started to netcast.

Water condition weren't as good as the few nights earlier as i could smell chlorine from the water as if the area which i was netcasting was like swimming pool.

Catches too weren't good till my last cast at around midnight before deciding to stop and returned home as i have not stopped for a break since i started earlier.

It was in the afternoon when Man Kerapu called me to go for short two to three hours netcasting right after break fast. It was around 8pm, when Man called and told that he would be at my place in five minutes.

Took my bag which contained my netcast net, digital camera, torchlight & off I met him at the foot of my block.

Reach spot at around 8.30pm and Man started to netcast and ended at 11pm. Catches includes Reg-legged prawn of various good sizes, various size of tua bak (tamban malam), selar papan, flower crab & pasir-pasir.

It was the last day of the month just before the Muslim holy month, Ramadhan, arrives as Muslim around the world will be going through fasting for one month.

The team decides to go for a last fishing trip. Water tide was superb and we could see queenfish and barracuda jumping attacking small fishes nearby the shore but the bait was simply lousy as our favourite bait was not on sale again for the two straight weeks.

So we have to netcast for some small bait fish but all we get was just flower crabs and small juvenile kapas-kapas, mengkerong, cuttlefish & wrasse which were sent as baits and some will be kept for the next outing.

Azzahar who was using Yan short rod with an Abu Garcia 6500 series multiplier managed to brought up two stingrays and one palm sized kapas-kapas.

Our favourite bait was hard to get at Changi Village since last week and we have to settle with sandworms and squids.

Just before returning home, Saleh hit a Kitang (Butter Fish) on a size 6 hook with sandworm as bait.

This outing CR is one of the best outing CR for the team as it was a fishing cum a big birthday with standard barbeque outing. The host of the barbeque party was none other than our new member in the Singapore Surf Anglers, birthday boy Wak Ace. Happy Birthday bro.

The rest of the team could not attend as Azzahar was away to Malaysia for a short holiday, Asyiq (Mat Kahak) and the rest of the team was away for their personal family outings.

It was such a waste that the rest of the team member was not around to witness Sazali reeling in a 3.5kg Tembam Pipi by the beach! Sazali then smsed Azzahar who was in Malaysia about the CR and the latter was shocked about the Sazali catch.

Congratulations to the Singapore Surf Anglerz especially Sazali.

This outing are only meant for rest and relax fishing while chit chatting or studying with the rest of the members as school exams are just around the corner. In order lessened down the checking of bait timing, most of the members were sending in big bait fish to target biggies such as stingrays and etc.

The members met at the normal spot in the afternoon but once rain came and most of us were hiding under the canvas in order to seek shelter as our normal spot shelter was booked by an indian family having barbeque so we have to moved out to the nearest bench.

Once rain stopped and the indian family has returned, off we unload our things back to the shelter. Some played card games, some were studying for exams, some were chit chatting, some were barbequing some of our baits fish, squids and crabs by using the used barbeque coals which were used by the indian family earlier.

As the night was dull and it was a long night for the members, our main joker, Saleh, as usual will be the ice breaker to bright up the dullness till it's time to return home.

Catch was only good by netcasting for baits. At least, in this outing, we still have something to pose around with. Man Kerapu netcasted and managed to bring up 2 belanak (mullet), puput (halfbeak) and a baji-baji (flathead).

Decide to have an all out overnight fishing with the rest of the members and Man Kerapu from Eastcorez Surfanglerz.

Reached Changi Village at Gary's to buy baits, food, drinks, light sticks and some other items in order to last the whole night. Reached at 4pm and set up tackles and cast out the first baits. Minutes later, it was raining and we dashed to save our things to the last hut of CP6.

After the rain had stopped, only then Yan and the others arrived. First fish of the night goes to Sazali for his Yu Bodoh (Bamboo Shark). It was not released as Yan had requested for the fish as his brother needs it for some medicinal concoction.

Hours later, Raimi brought up his first fish since joining Singapore Surf Anglerz. A small female sandray of around 400grams. The night was not what we had expected to be as bite rate was very low and the sea was calm. There was not even sea breeze and most of us was feeling humid.

Tua Bak aka Tamban Malam, prawns, crabs was abundant caught in Man netcasting and some are release as it was too small to be used as baits.

The highlight of the outing which was consider a black night for both of the teams goes to Azzahar; myself and Man Kerapu. Man Kerapu handphone which was kept in his pocket had accidentally brought his phone while netcast for baitfish and the phone was damaged instantly. As for me, my 3250 handphone was missing only after i reached home. Tried to called my phone number but found out that some people whe have found the phone have actually switched it off. So i called up Starhub to suspend my phone line as soon as possible. Tried to go down again to Carpark 6 after bathing but it proved to be an unfruitful searches after asking around if any of the uncles have seen it.

Called Man Cisco if he would like to follow me fishing at Changi CP7. After buying baits such as squid and wat-wat, set up my rod started to cast out. Man Cisco was sending in big baits in order to target biggies.

As for me, I was targetting on smaller rays as my team have been reeling in a kilo sized rays since the past outings. Smaller rays have sweet meat compared to the bigger version when barbequed with sambal and lime juice poured over it once it cooked.

I was lucky again to reel in blue spotted stingrays for the straight outings since our last few catch reports.

The saddest part of the story, as i was targetting smaller rays, I was shocked that my Surecatch Prokat and cheap Pioneer Apachi spinning 5000 series loaded with a single apollo sized 4 O'Shaugnessy Mustad Saltwater hook baited with wat-wat was stripped non stop till it is left with 1/4 spool to go. It was at full low tide. I decided to thumb the spool in order to slow down the fish but i guess the fish did not swallowed properly and it managed to escape.

At around 11pm, we decided to call it a day. Took pictures of Man's ATC Surfleader rod which he intend to sell away, and not to forget Man taking a picture with the biggest ray caught today with my rod.

It's ok, it's alright. Today the biggies might have bullied me when i was in small game mode, but the next outing, I will return with a vengeance for the biggies.

Today's fishing was only meant for some fun fishing outing with the rest of the members after fishing seriously the whole week at the interval of one day rest and the next day fish.

The sea was very choppy followed by strong wind. Fish was not biting much to what we have expected.

But special catch again by Yan, a flower crab again being hooked up on his hook. The third flower crab in three straight outings! Congratulation bro, you are hereby being known as the Flower Crab surf fishing angler. Hehehe.

Also not to forget the consecutive 4th stingray in three outings. Each ray caught was getting bigger in size in each outing. So i hereby call on the mother and father ray to come and challenged us. We are ready for the challenged.

Birthday boy Saleh turns a year older today. My girlfriend decides to give him a mini barbeque. Brought marinated chicken wings, crabsticks, sausages, egg sandwiches and curry puff for the mini barbeque.

Reach spot at 5pm and started to prepare all necessary things for the mini barbeque. Started fishing and started to hit fish after fish at night.

My younger brother came with his buddy at night and spend a few hours chatting up with the rest of the members before dashed off to Plaza Singapura for a 2am movie.

Special catch of the night was my two blue-spotted stingrays and Yan landing flower crab hooked to its mouth.

Birthday boy wasn't as lucky enough as his rod was sent to Gary's Tackle Shop for a change of four guide ring and was not ready in time due to some problems to the thread binding machine.

Fishing outing just to cool off minds while rest and relax by the beach with my girlfriend & Yan. Bought sarong worms and sand worms using a one hook rig.

Called Yan at 10am if he is interested in going fishing and was happy that he answered that he was waiting for someone to call him up to go fishing. Met him at spot at 1pm where tide is about to goes down. Out goes our bait and Yan was the first to strike a Mempinang (Russell Snapper) & the next cast, he brought up an Usat (Eel-tail Catfish). Soon it was turn to bring the biggest Mempinang for the day followed by smaller version.

Catch was good just before rain came. Once the rain started to downpour, catches suddenly came to a halt and we decide to pack up and return home at 6pm.

Managed to meet a new friend senior family which consist of Pakcik Hamid, his wife and daughter which i made friends while fishing at Bedok Jetty. Such a pleasant day for us to meet them fishing at the same area as us. They were much more lucky landing up a nice sized grouper and mempinang too.

It was on Tuesday, when I was on MC as i had a headache in the morning. In the afternoon, Saleh called me that he's was at Bedok Jetty with the rest of the members fishing for fun. He asked if i am interested to come down and join them.

So i answered of course!!! Been itching and been a long time i have not fish together with the others. So i came down with no baits at all as the rest of the crew were arming themselves with 500grams of fresh prawns.

I arrived at 2.45pm, Saleh and Yan had already around 15 pcs of Tamban (Herring) as he said that it's been half and hour they arrived and caught the tambans. Saleh was fuming that he lost a respectable Ikan Sagai (Giant Trevally) when the fish survived by flipping back into the sea.

I then passed Saleh one of my killing antidote and within 3hrs, we have hit a total of 577 pieces of Tambans which have a combined weight of 9.2kg.

Later, I started fuming all over when my floater rig was dragged by a nice size Ikan Todak (local swordfish) or might be a big trevally species which took off with my live tamban as bait. Judging from the bent of my rod and drag setting, I knew it should be bigger than 3kg because my line was peeling out very fast. I tried to hold the rod but can't as the pull was strong enough that I could not remove the rod from the holder.

What a day!!!!

A last minutes planning by my uncle who wanted to go fishing just before I was about to sleep.

Bought baits, food & drinks at Changi Village off we go to the spot and started fishing. The whole night was very dull except for just a single catch report of 300 grams Eel-tailed catfish ('Usat' in Malay terms)

Since it was raining cats and dogs for the past weeks and all of our fishing outing plans were halted, I decided to go on fishing even it's raining for as long I took care of my safety.

In the afternoon, went for a short fishing outing of four hours to the spot and only managed to land a 0.3kg plus minus puffer fish which i released it back unharmed after taking picture of it.

Feeling it wasn't enough to kill the fishing itch, I returned home, bathed and had my dinner and off to other spot for another small fishing outing.

This time i was rewarded with something else and at least i'm happy with it.

Weekly Updates In The World Surf Fishing Championship 2007

Singapore Surf Anglerz are currently second in the overall standing while Team Yaman Fishing are currently fourth.

While in the Continental & Country Championship for the 2007 Singapore Champions Division, Singapore Surf Anglerz are currently first in the overall standing while Team Yaman Fishing is in second placing. Will the Team Yaman Fishing able to topple Singapore Surf Anglerz soon?

It has been raining cats & dogs for the past few weeks and our fishing outing was disrupted for that> But it was different on 5th May 2007, we really decides to go fishing even it's not raining.

The outing wasn't as great as we expected but still, we did caught some nice sized fish in the end by Uncle Hishamuddin such as the rare Giant Trevally (Sagai Putih), Sweetlip (Kaci) and etc.

It was at 7.30pm when i have just reached home from Johore Bahru with younger brother fixing his motorcycle. I was rushing through everything by preparing all my fishing gears, bath and eat my dinner with a short time slot as the rest of the cast from Singapore Surf Anglerz were already at the spot.

My uncle (Zainuddin) called me up and asked whether i am going fishing tonight. Later i asked him to buy some squid from the nearest supermarket and be prepared as i will be reaching in 20 minutes time.

Once i had fetched him, went over to Changi Village to get some fishing supplies such as light sticks and batteries for the head light. It was around 9pm when we met the rest of the cast.

As i arrived, the rest of the cast told me that Yan had brought up a nice sized Kaci (Sweetlips). I took out my weighing scale and it weighs approximately 1.2kg flat.

While Josh felt bad as the baby snapper from an emperor's family he caught died as he tried to remove the hook as the hook was deep gutted, I used it as my first big game bait of the night hoping to get a stingray.

Uncle Zainuddin and i then set up our gears and casted our baits waiting for some catches.

I went netcasting and caught some Pasir-pasir (Sandeel), a small cuttlefish and palm sized green-eyed squid to be used as big game baits. As the night was a bit boring with no moon to view, Josh asked me to teach him some basic technic of netcasting.

As Josh had enough of his netcasting lesson, he borrowed my tent for a rest. It was around one plus in the morning, when he went into complete body resting, his rod bend and line was peeling off from his reel. Wake him up and he made a good wee morning sprinting and fight with the strong fish which swim to the left. Once brought up, it was an angry fat 2kg Duri (Marine Catfish) hitting its body on the sand. As i was helping out to hold the swivel-snap part, suddenly i felt a sharp prick to left index finger and it was oozing with some blood.

When i inspect the snap, i was shocked to see that the snap part had came off and bend, I told Josh that he would have lost this fish if he had pump in the rod strongly.

As tide was going down, we decide to end our 10hrs fishing.

With the birth of our fishing blog, the first built, completed & first post, I have seen that lots of visitor have came in to say their well wishes thru our tag board.

Originally, thc -aka- Obek Janggut from Eastcorez Surfanglerz smsed me early in the morning to go fishing with the rest of Eastcorez Surfanglers at CP6. Then in the afternoon, the rest of the main cast called me up to go fishing too also at CP6.

It was around 2pm, i ride up to Pasir Ris Pond to buy some sinkers and light stick and also to meet the rest of the cast. Weather was super hot and i was having some giddiness due to the unbearable heat.

After buying the necessary stuff, i went back home and get a bit of rest before tying some big game rig and prepare my cooler box with my drinks and ice. Not to forget, my mum did prepared me some nasi sambal goreng for me to eat.

Reach spot at 8pm and i could see that, there many rods and anglers around fishing. Obek called me up that he couldn't make it. Met my fellow kakis at the spot which i have brought them there before.

Once parked the bike, walked back to spot, set up tent and started fishing. Once cast the small game, took out my netcast and starting casting out.

First cast, i got a pasir2 which i send out as bait. Second cast, in came a big cuttlefish with the size of around an adult palm with tua bak & flower crab. While i was removing the tua bak, suddenly the cuttlefish squirt it's ink from a far to my face and shirt and it really got it's target. Damn, i am dirtied by the cuttlefish.

Third cast, again a big cuttlefish and a smaller cuttlefish, this time i would not be fooled again, went to it's opposite and grab it's body and put into a pail.

After having enough of netcasting, feeding frenzy came in for the rods, all small game rods were the Man of the Match for this outing, from small duri to big size duri were caught. The biggest was a 1kg duri caught by Salleh and also his first ever big size fish on shore fishing. While the only nice size Gerut-gerut goes to Yan which made a good dash and even peel out his line out from his Abu multiplier.

It was at around 3.30am when we decided to stop fishing as the tide has gone down at a fast speed.
